2nd Place in GTS at USCA NCM Motorsports ParkPosted By: JDP Team - On: 6/7/2017 8:00 AM
USCA National Corvette Museum Event, June 2017
Last weekend we attended the Optima USCA event at NCM Motorsports Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The event was full of highs and lows, and the competition kept us on our toes. We are extremely pleased with the performance of the JDP Motorsports 2017 C7 Grandsport Corvette "Bernice" in her first Ultimate Street Car Association event!
Autocross: 5th in GTS, 13th Overall
We struggled on the Autocross with limited suspension tune-ability, but we fought up to the last minute to get it done. There was some serious competition and we weren't going down without a fight! We finished in 5th in GTS and 13th overall on the Autocross which was great given the struggles we had.
Design & Engineering: 8th in GTS, 40th Overall
The next event was the Lingenfelter Performance Engineering D&E portion of the event. We've done A LOT of work on Bernice since January.
Unfortunately, our C7 "Bernice" proved to be misunderstood by the judges. We were completely floored with the 40th Place finish in the segment. Naturally, we didn't think we stood a chance to see the podium in the final overall GTS results.
Road Course: 2nd in GTS, 4th Overall
We came into Sunday with the PowerStop Speed Stop and the Falken Tire Hot Laps Challenge. Knowing we were in a very deep hole, we came out swinging. The weather wasn't looking good and our first session on the road course had damp conditions. We were able to set our grid spot at 5th behind Danny Popp, Paul Curley, Bryan Johnson and Ken Thwaits. The next session was dry and we were able to get around Ken for 4th. We were ready to jump to 3rd in the third session, but unfortunately the lightning shut us down. We ended up 4th overall and I am very pleased with the result.
Speed Stop: 2nd in GTS, 2nd Overall
The Speed Stop was wet for the majority of the day and with the full schedule it made it a huge challenge. We got in some solid wet times and we knew there would be a limited window with dry conditions. We were able to put together a solid run on the left and right courses giving us a 2nd Place Overall and in class finish!!! This car is an absolute beast.
Final Results: 2nd Place in GTS
We were completely shocked when we came in 2nd Place to Paul Curley in GTS after our dismal D&E result. This is a testament that you should NEVER give up and keep fighting to the end!
Thank you to AIRAID for allowing us to represent them as their entry at this event and to ALL of our partners for your continued support! We look forward to refining the Grandsport throughout the season!
